I’ve been worrying about the CPSIA law that was supposed to come into play in February – a well intentioned law, and addressing a real problem – but it causes problems for artists who create handmade items – If I read it properly – it doesn’t matter that the figures I make are not intended for children 12 or under, (which they aren’t) — but rather since these latest bjds are considered dolls – they could be interpreted as falling under that law. And it requires 3rd party testing to prove that the materials in each of my one of a kind bjds are non-toxic to children under 12.
any way – we have another year to figure it out….
Year’s delay in implementing CPSIA
I kind of wonder at what point you should recognize a personality flaw as integral to your being, embrace it and become one with it. I have real problems sticking to one project. Ok – I have real problems sticking to just 5 or 6 projects. sigh.
and you don’t want to see my house – nope, no way – don’t even go there.
so the contortionist and the mermaid have gotten set aside while i try to finish off the final molds for Bug and Cub – I’m kind of hoping to sell a couple of these guys to finance more clay, mold goop and resin…. my personal budget seems to be trying to emulate California State’s at the moment…. i consider it a good incentive to try to get myself focused – but the problem was figuring out which project to focus on.
so I chose Bug and Cub — and promptly decided to make a new head for that body so now its Bug, Cub and Birdie. I’m pretty fond of these guys — but if there were ever a “dolly” figure I was doing – it would be these guys — and that law that takes effect next week may cause real problems. These are intended for adults – but they are more toy like than most of what I do – my timing is lousy sometimes.
so whether I ever get to sell any or not – here are some pics
hope you enjoy …
if nothing else – i’ve had a lot of fun with them…
